General Hotel Policies
CHECK-IN and CHECKOUT: Check-in time at the Rum Runner Inn begins at 4:00pm. The hotel will make every effort to personalize our guest’s stay if provided ETA information at time of reservation. If your party happens to arrive earlier and the room is not available at the time of arrival, our front desk will be happy to store your bags so you may enjoy your day in Lunenburg. Checkout time is before 11:00am the day of departure. Late checkout requests may be made through the front desk only, and are subject to determination based on hotel occupancy. Additional charges may apply.
NOISE POLICY: **WE ARE A QUIET HOTEL**. Noise levels must remain at minimum, so as not to disturb other guests. Noise complaints may result in ejection without refund.
KEY RETURN POLICY: There is a $50 key replacement charge levied, if keys are not returned upon checkout. Charge will automatically be added to guests final bill.
SMOKE FREE POLICY: Rum Runner Inn is a 100% non-smoking facility. Smoking, vaping, and e-cigarettes are not permitted anywhere within the hotel, including Sun Porches, Balconies, Verandas, and anywhere on its grounds. Any evidence of smoking inside guest rooms and attachments, or hotel facilities will result in a $400 fee in addition to the restorative expense needed to return the room to its original condition. This additional fee and costs will be charged on the guest folio before or after checkout. This policy also includes candles; no candles are to be lit in guest rooms at any time.
NO PET POLICY: * NO PETS permitted. Service animals are allowed. Please advise us when making a reservation if bringing a service animal into the hotel so we may prepare for arrival accordingly. As per the Nova Scotia Service Dog Act, please bring your verifiable Service Dog Team Certificate Identification Card issued from a recognized government body. You will need to present this at the front desk at check-in time.
ROOM DAMAGES & LIABILITY: All guests are liable for damages done to the room by themselves or others they invite into the room. Guests will be liable for the full amount to repair damages done, amount will be set based on repair cost on a case by case basis.
DO NOT DISTURB & ROOM REFRESH POLICY: We are pleased to be able to once again offer daily room refreshes between 10am and 2pm. Daily all consumable items and towels will be checked and restocked as needed. For multi-night stays bedding will be changed before every third night. We make every effort to respect your privacy during your stay with us however the hotel and its staff reserve the right to enter any room or allow the authorities entry while the Do Not Disturb sign is displayed if there is cause. Reasons entry may be requested include but are not limited to, wellness checks, following up on complaints made either by the guest in the room or other guests; and policy required cleaning. All entry requests will be preceded by a knock and the announcement of which staff group is requesting entry.
MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT: All guests must be of legal age of 18 years or older to confirm guest-room accommodations at Rum Runner Inn Lunenburg. A valid photo ID must be presented at the time of check in for age verification. Valid photo ID is required both for the check in process, as well as being a necessity to process a credit card.
PARKING: Authentic Old Town Lunenburg does not have dedicated parking for its residents or our tourist guests. We all use street parking. The Main streets are metered, and all side streets handy to the hotel are free of charge, that is a convenient choice for long duration stays. Otherwise, Metered parking is only until 5:00pm, while check-in is at 4:00pm. All Overnight parking near the hotel is free, safe and convenient. We are located in prime center of town. Most sights, attractions, and restaurants are only short walking distance from the hotel.
GUARANTEED RESERVATIONS: To guarantee a reservation at the Rum Runner Inn, a valid credit card is required at time of booking; we are unable to hold any rooms otherwise. Reservations guaranteed by a credit card will be pre- authorized or processed for a guest’s stay three days prior to arrival. If a guest’s credit card does not accept the pre- authorization or charge, that reservation may be cancelled and the room opened to a new guest.
Reservations, Refunds, and Cancelations
CANCELLATION POLICY: Reservations can be cancelled free of charge until 3 days prior to arrival. Cancellations after this time and “no shows” will result in the full amount of the reservation to be charged to the credit card on file. Please provide notice of cancellation before 4PM Atlantic Standard Time, 3 days prior to arrival to avoid being charged for the full amount of the reservation. Cancellation notices must be in writing, and sent via the email address on file for the reservation. Group and Conference reservations are subject to the cancellation and deposit policies outlined at time of booking and may vary from standard hotel policies
RESERVATION POLICY: ALL rooms have a maximum occupancy of two persons. For large reservations (four or more rooms booked at one time), please contact the hotel for specialized terms & conditions catered directly to the party.
HOTEL PAYMENT POLICY: In order for guest accommodations to be confirmed, sufficient credit credentials for payment of accommodations must be provided through the authorization of a valid credit card. Please be advised that up to three days prior to arrival, a credit hold or charge in the amount of guest room-charge and applicable taxes will be processed. A provision for, booking modification charges, incidental charges, and or damage charges may be placed on the credit account as well, before or after departure. All changes to your charged amount will be accompanied by a new invoice only sent to the email address on file.
Accepted Methods of Payment: Master Card, Visa and American Express (subject to additional processing fees).
TAXES: Hotel stays in Nova Scotia are subject to a Canadian and Nova Scotia Government combined Tax of 15% total.
PRE-AUTHORIZATION INFORMATION: In the case that a guest’s room is to be paid by another party’s credit card that will not be attending the hotel, a pre-authorization form is required, from the credit card holder, allowing the Rum Runner Inn Lunenburg to use the credit card for ALL related stay charges accumulated. Our reservation agent will be able to e-mail you the form to be filled out at your request.
